Puppetry Coach

At puppetry workshops, Bodo Schulte shows participants how theatre, TV and film puppets are performed.
Film puppet seminars focus mainly on teamwork (hand and head performers) and on working the camera by way of control monitors (TV).
Bodo holds seminars for coaching not only professional puppeteers, but also beginners and semi-professionals. His experience as a certified social worker in the education sector is the ideal supplement to the know-how he has gained as a puppet performer in 20 years of theatre and television work.
On an international scale, he has worked, e.g. in Buenos Aires (ARG), Moscow (RUS), New York (USA), Vienna (A), Cairo (EGY), Paris (FRA) and Madrid (ESP).

Puppet Musical Workshop in Vienna

At several puppetry workshops held in 2006/2007, Bodo Schulte trained a troop of top-class Austrian actors and singers for the stage musical KRAWUTZI KAPUTZI - STRICTLY BANNED FOR YOUNG PEOPLE.

The fact that the puppets were performed by puppeteers who were visible beside their figures presented a major challenge.

Some background info:
At the legendary "Kabarett SIMPL" located in the heart of Vienna, the TV puppet stars of the 70s have been appearing on stage since April 2007.
The years have however definitely left their mark on PEZI, MINKI, FIPS, DAGOBERT, HELMI, MIMI and Co. Formerly much-loved and much-feared (Kasper and the Wizard Tintifax) by the children of Austria, 25 years later they live as adults in Meidling, a district in Vienna.

While PEZI smokes pot and dreams of his 1000th 1-night stand, MR HELMI has problems with alcohol and gambling; another is afraid to admit he is gay, and the next visits sordid websites in the internet while his wife regards herself as a talented singer, causing much distress to everybody else.
But despite all this, there are still the quiet, moving moments when honest affection, humanity and death take over.

A racey play with extreme demands on the actors and puppet-performers.
The puppets are totally convincing, whether in erotic moments or doing a Austrian folk dance. Brilliant dialogues and marvellous music by Johannes Glück, stage-managed by Werner Sobotka - simply great!

"Krawutzi Kaputzi" is one of the best examples of why not only children love puppets. A good tip for your next stay in Vienna!
